The CTBA is delighted to announce it has appointed as its National Chairman for 2019, Dr Clive Rix.

Clive has been a freelance business adviser since 1996.  Initially, most of his work was in the coal sector but more recently he has specialised in strategic planning, governance, regulation and competition issues.

He joined the then National Coal Board in 1975 after completing his PhD, reaching the position of Head of Marketing Operations where he managed the sales order office, contract administration, distribution, quality assurance procedures and market planning for all British Coal’s production.  He was also a key member of the corporate team responsible for preparing and implementing plans to secure a viable long term business in the face of a rapidly changing market.

After privatisation, he became part time Chief Business Adviser to the Competition Commission, support on a range of matters, including corporate strategy, business planning, marketing and distribution and operational efficiency.

He has been a member of the CTBA and served on the East Midlands Branch committee for more than 25 years, and was President of the Birmingham and West Midlands Branch in 1992.  He is currently Treasurer of Nottingham Credit Union.
